Acquired Brain Injury An Acquired Brain Injury can be caused by trauma, an abnormal growth on the brain or by an infection. It is then categorised either mild, moderate or severe. The symptoms vary on where the damage is and the area of the damage. The damage can be evident straight away or could be evident in years to come when the child would need to use that area of the brain, for example damage to the top of the brain (parietal lobe) could result in problems in mathematics and problem solving this won't be evident if the child has a brain injury at the age of one.
