Spinal Muscular Atrophy is a genetic disease which causes wide spread muscle wasting. It is progressive and often causes loss of movement, limb and respiratory (lung) muscles are usually affected. Physiotherapy can be vital to help the limb and respiratory muscles maintain strength, meaning your child will be more functional and have an increased quality of life.
