Effects of Hypermobility?

Effects of Hypermobility?

  • Often children experience tight muscles due to their adopted poor postures from hypermobile joints. For example they tend to sit with their legs apart and straight, this leads to hip stiffness and can explain why they experience back and knee pain.
  • Infants can be late to crawl as they tend to shuffle around on their bottoms
  • Some Children can have low tone, as tone is regulated in the muscles and tendons. Laxity in these muscles can result in low tone which could mean your child's muscles seem floppy.
  • Hypermobility can cause secondary complications such as sprains due to the decrease in stability.
  • Children with low tone can suffer with flat feet.
