Physiotherapy treatment for Plagiocephaly

Physiotherapy treatment is likely to involve positioning and active and passive range of motion. The physiotherapist is likely to encourage play in positions which will benefit your child and reduce any flattening forces on the skull. A form of treatment that is becoming popular for children with plagiocephaly is the cranial head remoulding helmet.

Plagiocephaly does not affect the brain and there is no link with this condition and a low IQ or medical problems. If your baby is older than 16 months most growth changed will have reached full development and therefore any interventions may be in-effective.
