What is Limb-Girdle Dystrophy

Limb Girdle Dystrophy is an umbrella term for a number of disorders affecting the voluntary muscles around the shoulder (shoulder girdle) and hips (pelvic girdle). Weakness of these muscles is caused by a mutation to the genes which affect the proteins necessary for muscle function.
