What is Dyspraxia/ Developmental Co-ordination Disorder? Dyspraxia causes a problem with the co-ordination needed for fine (small movements) and gross (large movements) motor tasks. The causes of dyspraxia in babies is unknown but has been linked to a low birth weight and being born before the 37th week of pregnancy. Acquired Dyspraxia refers to difficulties in movements caused by brain damage later in life such as a head injury.
